Thanks for the comments on the Abrams guys. Well done on the Chally John, that is a cracking little model. Will look at getting the Tamiya 1/35 version next month, it is a great looking tank. Found these, some good detail shots and ideas for dioramas. Does anyone know if have Challys been deployed in Afghanistan, if so any pics or details??

Overlord, i love the second photo, i think that will be the dio i will be doing with the next Challenger 2. Thanks again, John

Very nice John, 1/72 is a killer for fingers and eyes but when space dictates they are a needs must, loads of good detail as usual and also Jason keep um coming, excellent work there on th M47. Nice pics of the Chally Overlord, though I dont think we have them in Afghanistan, though I could be wrong. Place in ground, keep at arms length, light the blue touch paper and stand back!

The head of the Army, General Sir Richard Dannatt, asked the Ministry of Defence to deploy Challenger Two tanks – acknowledged as one of the best weapons in Britain's armoury – in Afghanistan two years ago, military sources have claimed. Despite his request, the Government decided the terrain in Afghanistan was not suitable for the Challenger. Linky for rest of article here: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...o-1766250.htmlLooks like the whole MBTs in Afghanistan debate is going to fire up again. As for the MoD's claim that Helmand isnt suitable for tanks, they are wrong it's perfect tank country as demonstated by the Danes and Canadians with their Leo 2s. I would understand if Helmand is mountainous but it isnt, its mostly open desert with the exception of the green zone
If it move's its a target, if it stays still its a well disciplined target.

Over the next few months I have decided to create a diorama on a large scale the scale will be still in 1:72 or 1:76 if buying new Airfix kits buildings will be bought or scratch built preiser will be the figures of choice and I will keep everyone up to date with the progress still not sure if to post pictures during the build or once complete but one thing is sure I will throw all modelling skills into it the size will be on a board 6ft by 6ft so there will be plenty going on and to look at so will keep you all posted on this project hopefully to be started at the beginning of Febuary

Absolute quality COV1! Fantastic stuff! I don't think you have finished it yet though? I love the Panzer grey Finish, totally brilliant mate. Well done of that! Did you do it GD? Where is the unit badge? I think it is a stonking model mate. I think the next step you should do a mid-production Tiger!

Overlord wrote:Thanks for the conformation John, like you say Leapards seem to be performing fine, found plenty of pics of those aswell. I wonder what the real reason is?? It's a load of bull mate, how can they say the terrain in Afghanistan was not suitable. It's like saying you can't put a round peg in a round hole, real reason? We'll never know but, one thing i do know and this came for a trooper in the RTR "send in all the Challenger 2's and flatten the f*$&%*G lot, then we can come home and leave what's left for them to rebuild". Anyways, i'll shut up now this is the modelling part of the forum and is a happy place. And Admin may say something.

Thanks for the nice comments lads, I really am enjoying these German armour models, quite addictive. The tiger is such a beaut but also it looks so menacing! I havent quite sorted its unit badge out yet but will do hopefully over next week. The kitchen is taking priority as well as work. Nice panther looking forward to that one getting built. Cheers Ade Place in ground, keep at arms length, light the blue touch paper and stand back!
