Had a great surprise last week when I discovered that the above models are still being made. I first had some of them about 30 years ago and foolishly got rid of them when I first got married. Now in my second childhood I want them again and they are still available. They were originally made by Roco of Austria but are are now made by Herpa in Germany. They are made of plastic and are 1:87 scale. The range covers WW2 (mainly German) and the German (my particular interest at the mo) and US Armies from the Cold War until now. If anyone is interested the herpa site details what is available at present and gives info on UK distributors.

Some examples are shown below.

Some of the new ones are really good, esp the Elephant/Ferdinand.

Not sure about wargaming. I seem to recall they were a bit too small for most of my airfix soldiers. They do make some of their own but they are mainly tank crews and truck passengers. Also, they are a bit expensive for buying more than one of each I think. But, you're right they look neat.
I like this Spanish Army Leopard 2

and this German Army AVLB

Yes they are cracking models but in 1/87 is ideal for model railways.

I did look at these years ago but they tended to be quite expensive.

Will try and dig out a good site for these that I used to view.

Place in ground, keep at arms length, light the blue touch paper and stand back!

English translation : Which for beautiful models. They are so nice and arranged good. It sees expensive, but stll I these would like, please say where I these buy can?

Heskey would like you to visit his hobby shop site: http://www.panzerfux.de/de/

Or in German :Heskey möchte, daß Sie seinen Liebhabereigeschäft Aufstellungsort besichtigen

Heskey since they came from Deutschland you probably already know the answer! HERPA

"Heskey, da sie von Deutschland kamen, kennen Sie vermutlich bereits die Antwort!"

Heskey , out of curiosity why when you say you are from the USA do you make your post in German?

Heskey, aus Neugier heraus, warum, wenn Sie sagen, Sie aus den USA kommen, bilden Sie Ihren Pfosten auf Deutsch?
